Grandview, U.S.A... Netflix DVD this weekend. I watched half of it on Saturday, and I'll watch the rest on Sunday afternoon. As nearly all of my friends know by now, I fell in love with C. Thomas Howell as Ponyboy when I was in high school. I also enjoyed seeing him in The Hitcher a few years later. I don't know why, but I never got around to watching this one until now. It's a fun movie, but not a great one. The best thing about this movie is that C. Thomas might have been at the peak of his boyish, sweet cuteness in it, and they show him without his shirt on in several scenes. No, he doesn't have big muscles or a six pack, but that's fine with me. And yes, I know many think he hasn't aged well. I don't care. If only he had married me back in the mid '80s, I would still adore him, and every time we were intimate, I would see him as he was.
